Tour Itinerary: 4 Days Tour From Marrakech to Fez | Morocco Desert Tour
Day 1: Marrakech – Tizi N’tichka Pass – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Kelaa M’gouna – Skoura.
Your Marrakech to Fes Trip starts by Taking on the High Atlas mountains and crossing them at 2200 meters high. Shortly after the pass, take the off-road and reach Pasha’s ruined palace and the salt mines of Telouet.
Follow the dramatic canyon of Ounila while on the other side of the canyon, the troglodyte grottos can be glimpsed in the distance. Stop and wander around the UNESCO world site Ait Benhaddou citadel. Skirt through Ouarzazate and later, reach the palm grove of Skoura.
Dinner and accommodation in a beautiful lodge inside the palm grove.
Day 2: Skoura – Boumalne Dades – Todra Gorges – Tinejdad – Erfoud – Erg Chebbi (Merzouga).
In the morning, have a guided tour of the palm grove with a local guide and learn about the architecture of the kasbahs, the marriage customs, and life in the community.
Later, walk by the 300-meter-high gorges of Todra to then visit a traditional ksour and its ‘wells of light’ in Tinejdad. Reach Rissani and stroll around the Jewish district or the ruins of Sijilmassa.
Arrive in Merzouga at the foot of the 300-meter-high dunes. Trade the 4×4 for camels and reach your desert camp in time for sunset. Dinner and accommodation in a comfortable tent with ensuite toilets and showers.
Day 3: 4×4 Excursion Around Erg Chebbi Desert.
Today is the highlight of your 4-day tour from Marrakech to Fez. Wake up to see the sunrise. Have breakfast back at the lodge by the dunes. Visit the Black people’s village, have tea with the nomads, and wander around the rock engravings. Later, pry out for fossils or visit the pre-Islamic tombs.
Come back in the afternoon to Erg Chebbi for another camel ride and enjoy a beautiful sunset again. Dinner and accommodation as per the previous night.
Day 4: Merzouga – Erfoud – Errachidia – Midelt – Azrou – Ifrane – Fes.
Wake up the next morning to catch the sunrise and start a rather long day to reach Fes in the evening. On the way, the landscapes change dramatically from desert dunes to the orchards of Midelt and then the cedar forests of Middle Atlas where mansard roofs and boat lakes instill a feeling of being in Europe. reach Fes early evening.
